| Heavens January 7, 2004 I have recently stated to family and friends that my goal is to become a lawyer in the next six or seven years. This desire has stemmed from my perception of a natural progession in my dealings in real estate, first as a landlord hacking at the real estate process, then as a realtor with a formalized understanding of the process, but hacking at the law. This goal is an aspiration, is very real and is going to happen, but it is not a dream. A dream is much bigger. My dream lies in the heavens. As crazy as it sounds, my dream is to explore the Universe and all the wonders it must have to offer - to be a part of this pioneering stage of space exploration, and most certainly space travel. Space has been a fascination to me ever since I learned that the Earth was actually round and really not that big. I have long wondered what wonders are waiting for mankind to discover - what phenomena will be be discovered next that will test the boundaries of established scientific theories and facts, or perhaps prove scientific fiction and dreams. In the grand scheme of the Universe and the space that we currently believe is confined within it, we know next to nothing. When we add Time to the mix, we are confronted with vastly more undiscovered questions than unasnswered ones. Then there is Life, especially the kind that is capable of dreaming. We know overwhelmingly next to nothing. There is one thing I can say with certainty, at least in my mind. Everything we can dream of is possible. Everything. Why do I think this? Simple. The Universe is infinite and because we exist in the Universe, everything that exists in our minds, must also exist in the Universe. Everything we can think of, perhaps even the quandries of paradoxes and contradictions, must exist, somewhere, in the Universe. by John E. Tran |
